Annual Investment Statements

Mailing of client statements  

Your clients’ investment statements, as of December 31, 2024, will soon be ready. 

  • Electronic access: Statements will be available on the Client Centre 
  • Mailed copies: Paper statements, including an insert, will be mailed before the end of the month*.  

* The Canada Post strike ended in December. However, additional delivery delays may still occur due to the backlog.  

Accessing client statements 

  • Advisor access via the Advisor Centre, under the Statements and Investments section

Take advantage of this period to encourage your clients to sign up for the Client Centre. This will give them faster access to their statements and other documents. 

Changes your clients will notice  

The annual investment statements include the following updates  

1. For security reasons, client email and date of birth were removed. 

2. As a result of the January 1, 2025, rule changes to LIF disbursements under the Quebec legislation, we

  • Added the Legislation field in Your contract information  
  • Modified a column heading and a footnote in Information on available payments for 2025
  • Added a LIF-related paragraph in Notes  

3. The Equity Index GIA interest rate has been removed.

Death benefit settlement: evolution of criteria for life and savings products 

We are pleased to inform you that our death claim settlement criteria are evolving for greater simplicity. As of November 1, new criteria apply to life and savings claims.

Documents required for death benefit settlement

Request for the will

  • Required only if a beneficiary was named less than 6 months ago. 
  • Required only if the estate is a beneficiary AND the policy exceeds $200,000. 
  • In case of doubt (litigation, family disagreement, etc.), the will and/or the will search (in the province of Quebec only) may be requested at the insurer’s discretion, even if the previous conditions are met.

The attending physician statement - for insurance claims only

  • Policies inforce for less than 5 years
    • Required in all cases.
  • Policies inforce between 5 and 10 years 
    • Requested in case of any doubt, at the discretion of the insurer.
    • Required if policy coverage is over $500,000.
  • Policies inforce for 10 year and over
    • The medical report is requested only if necessary and at the insurer's discretion.

Death certificate 

The funeral home's death certificate is required in all cases except for express payment on life insurance claims.

Update to Beneva documents

New notification process in life insurance

Good news! The notification process offered to MGAs will be available to advisors. 

Starting January 13, you will receive an email notification from notification@beneva.ca  whenever an update is made to one of your new clients' life or critical illness insurance files.

You will be informed when

  • An action on your part is required.
  • We need to share important information with you.
  • A note from Risk Selection has been sent via the portal.

The email will include

  • A report detailing the activity on a new insurance application
  • A link to the Advisor Centre to access detailed information and complete the required action(s).

The confidentiality of data in the electronic application

Effective January 16, 2025, any document submitted to the insurer through the electronic application that is incomplete or expired for more than 90 days will be automatically deleted from the platform.

This measure aims to ensure compliance with Beneva’s data privacy policy by safeguarding personal information, including sensitive medical data of clients. It also supports adherence to security and information management standards on the electronic application platform.

Improvements to the FIND0208 life insurance form

Discover the updated version of Cancellation, cash value, policy loan, partial withdrawal or withdrawal of holdings request form | FIND0208A. We’ve consolidated multiple transactions into a single form to simplify your work. The form is available in the Documentation Centre.

The new version of the form now supports the following transactions: 

  • Cancellation/Cash value
  • Reduced paid-up insurance
  • Loan
  • Partial Withdrawal
  • Cancellation of the additional paid-up insuranc
  • Withdrawal of holding for Life Insurance Policies

The FIND0208 replaces the former "Cancellation – Surrender | IND108E" (La Capitale) form, which have been removed from the Documentation Centre.
